Fingernägel - fingernails

Good day, I have a daughter who is almost three years old. The fingernails on her fingers are coming loose shortly before the end of the nail, and it looks worst on her thumb where it is really red and appears to be inflamed. It is not trapped, it just happened that way. What could this be? We can only go to the doctor tomorrow.
Good day,
It is certainly important to clarify whether your child bites their nails, sucks their thumb, etc. Here, the pediatrician can help.
If this is not the case, it could also be a nail fungus. Please visit your dermatologist and have your child examined. There are now medications available that can be applied like nail polish to the affected nails.
Wishing your daughter a speedy recovery.
Kind regards,
Dr. Schröter
