Hello
Yesterday evening, I did a pressure equalization maneuver twice. This means holding my nose and blowing forcefully. This Valsalva maneuver.
Now I read somewhere on the internet that this maneuver is dangerous and can cause embolisms or a stroke. Is that true?
I did it late yesterday evening, could something still happen to me now? I'm really scared.
Dear inquirer, a stroke or embolism can only occur with very strong execution and frequent repetition of the maneuver, and also in patients who already have an increased risk of embolisms or strokes. However, overall this is very very unlikely. Nevertheless, you should not overdo the maneuver, as theoretically the eardrum can also be damaged if it is performed too strongly. Best regards,
