Acetazolamide

How long can I take Glaupax (Acetazolamide) 1 x 250mg without having to worry about causing damage or even organ failure? I will be undergoing surgery for glaucoma in my right eye on March 8th. Thank you for your message.

Dr. med. Frauke Gehring

Hello,

Please have your salts (potassium, chloride, and calcium) checked regularly. If everything remains fine here and your angle of the chamber is not completely closed, you can take the acetazolamide until the operation without any problems. However, you should not be a gout patient or pregnant.

You don't need to fear organ failure! Also, the time until 8.3. is short, some patients take the medication much longer than you need to.

All the best for the surgery!

Warm regards, Dr. Höllering
