Skin spot

Hello,
I have a approximately 4 cm large, light brown skin spot on my back. This spot has been getting darker over the years and now looks quite unsightly. However, the skin itself has not changed, except for the color. The spot is not uneven or hardened, just very dark and ugly. I seem to remember that I scraped this spot years ago, but it has only been getting darker for about a year now.
Thank you.
Dear inquirer,
Thank you for your question. Especially in dermatology, diagnoses are often made based on visual examination, meaning one must see how the spot looks to be able to determine what kind of change it is. It could be a mole, but it could also be a seborrheic wart. These can be very similar to moles and can also change over time. Unfortunately, it is not possible to make a diagnosis from a distance like this. Whether the spot is related to the abrasion is questionable (but not impossible).
I highly recommend that you make an appointment with a dermatologist as soon as possible. This is especially important if you have many moles. They should be checked by a doctor approximately once a year to detect any changes early. The dermatologist can help you in this case and make a definitive diagnosis.
I wish you all the best and send you warm regards, Susanne Plotz
