Are there ways to increase the amount of my pension?

Dear Social Security Attorney,

I am contacting you with a question regarding the amount of my pension. My name is Gertrud Krausmüller and I am currently receiving a pension from the statutory pension insurance. I am 65 years old and have been receiving this pension for several years now.

My current situation is as follows: I have worked my whole life and contributed to the pension insurance. However, my pension is relatively low and I am worried about whether I will be able to make ends meet financially. I live alone and do not have additional security through a private pension insurance or similar.

For this reason, I am wondering if there are ways to increase the amount of my pension. Are there, for example, ways to claim additional pension entitlements? Or are there programs or benefits that can help me improve my financial situation?

I am truly concerned about my financial future and want to ensure that I am well provided for in old age. Therefore, it would be very helpful for me if you could show me possible solutions or options that could help me increase the amount of my pension.

I thank you in advance for your support and look forward to your feedback.

Sincerely,
Gertrud Krausmüller

Dear Mrs. Krausmüller,

Thank you for your inquiry regarding your pension amount from the statutory pension insurance. I understand your concerns and would like to offer you some possibilities on how you may be able to improve your financial situation in old age.

Firstly, it is important to understand how the pension amount is calculated. Your pension depends, among other things, on your individual pension entitlement, which is based on your contribution periods and your average income during that time. If your pension is relatively low, this may be due to either not having paid into the pension insurance for long enough or having had a low average income during your contribution period.

One option to claim additional pension entitlements could be to apply for retroactive pension payments. For example, if you have periods where you did not pay into the pension insurance (e.g. due to raising children), you may be able to have these periods retroactively credited towards your pension entitlement. This could increase your pension entitlements.

Furthermore, there are various programs and benefits that can help you improve your financial situation in old age. For example, subsidies or benefits from basic security in old age or in case of reduced earning capacity may be applicable. These benefits can provide you with additional financial support to secure your livelihood in old age.

It would be advisable for you to consult with a specialized attorney in social security law to analyze your individual situation more precisely and discuss possible solutions. An attorney can help you review your pension entitlements and potentially claim additional entitlements.

I hope that this information is helpful to you and assists you in securing your financial future in old age. If you have any further questions or need assistance, I am at your disposal.

Sincerely,
