Termination during the probation period

I have signed an employment contract starting on 01.10.09. A notice period of 14 days during the probationary period is agreed upon in the contract. Can I personally hand in my resignation on 1.10. (first day of work) with a signature for 15.10.09, in order to start a new job with another employer on 16.10.09? Thank you in advance for your competent answer and kind regards.
