Diarrhea after a vacation in India

I have just returned from a vacation in India and I have severe diarrhea. Every time I try to eat something, I have to vomit. I feel too weak to sit in the waiting room. Is there anything I can do? My friend could also go to the pharmacy or drugstore for me and buy a remedy.
Hello,
In any case, your friend should get Imodium from the pharmacy (take 2 capsules first, then one after each episode of diarrhea, no more than four per day). He can also get Vomex Drg. over the counter at the pharmacy, which is effective against nausea, and Elotrans sachets, which replace the salts you lose through diarrhea (and also sweat out).
Please refrain from eating today, at most nibble on some white bread or pretzels if the nausea subsides. If the diarrhea does not improve, a stool examination including testing for Yersinia, the pathogens of the disease, is necessary. Your friend can pick up the necessary analysis tubes at the doctor's office.
If you feel very unwell and dizzy, you can also ask your doctor if he can see you without a long wait and maybe give you an infusion. That should be possible.
Best regards and wishing you a speedy recovery!
