X-rays

My daughter had an x-ray of her chest and abdomen today because there was suspicion that she had swallowed a button cell. She was x-rayed on a table without a lead apron and I had to hold her.

When I asked why she wasn't given a lead apron, the lady said it had to be done that way because we need to look from top to bottom. I thought it was just the chest, but the doctor ordered both. Should I now be worried about tumors? I don't think the ovaries were x-rayed because the bright image was only a little below the navel up to the jaw. I'm so worried. That was the first and hopefully last x-ray examination.

Why don't they put lead aprons on children? Is there anything I can do to reduce the risk now? Is her DNA and everything else damaged? Will she get cancer? She is only 20 months old.

Shouldn't she have been given a genital shield? I'm so angry, but I didn't know that, I just read it now.
