Possible inflammation of the esophagus?
Hello,
yesterday and today we were in the emergency room with our son (6 years old). On Wednesday, for the first time, he cried shortly after eating and complained of severe chest pains, which subsided after a few minutes. Yesterday it was so intense again that he said he had stabbing chest pains and difficulty swallowing and breathing. We immediately went to the hospital, he was examined (chest and back listened to, throat and ears checked, stomach palpated). Blood was taken as a precaution, but the values, except for the inflammation marker which was slightly elevated, were normal and we were told that improvement should occur today, otherwise we should come back. Since there has been no improvement, we went back today. It is really the case that shortly after eating or even during eating he complains of chest pain and swallowing pain (in the throat), starts crying, gets panic in his eyes and almost refuses to eat. This lasts for 15 or 20 minutes with short breaks and then it goes away. Otherwise, he is fine. He was not examined more thoroughly today than yesterday. When I mentioned that he choked on a larger, slightly harder winegum on Friday, esophageal inflammation was diagnosed. We should give him soft food and it should improve by tomorrow. But if it was due to choking on the winegum on Friday, how could he already complain about severe chest pain on Wednesday (spontaneously crying in the supermarket)? Just sitting around and waiting seems too little to us! We are really worried! We would be grateful for a quick advice from you!
