What causes can be behind constant headaches?

Dear Doctor,
My name is Claudia Helbig and I have been suffering from daily headaches for some time now. These usually occur in the mornings and accompany me throughout the day. I have already tried various painkillers, but unfortunately they do not provide long-term relief. Relaxation exercises and sufficient sleep have also not improved the symptoms.
I am starting to worry as the headaches are significantly impacting my daily life. I have difficulty concentrating, face problems at work, and am often irritable. Additionally, I experience severe fatigue despite getting enough sleep.
I wonder what possible causes could be behind my constant headaches. Could they be caused by stress, tension, poor diet, or maybe even a more serious condition like migraines or tension headaches?
I would like to know what tests would be useful in determining the cause of my headaches. Are there specific treatment options that promise long-term relief? What measures can I take myself to reduce my symptoms?
I would greatly appreciate your assessment and expertise on this matter. Thank you in advance for your help.
Sincerely,
Claudia Helbig
Dear Mrs. Helbig,
Thank you for your message and your trust in my expertise. I am sorry to hear that you are suffering from daily headaches that are significantly impacting your daily life. Headaches can have many causes, from stress to tension to more serious conditions such as migraines or tension headaches.
It is important to determine the exact cause of your headaches in order to initiate appropriate treatment. Various tests can be conducted for this purpose. It would be advisable to first schedule an appointment with a neurologist or headache specialist. The doctor can conduct a thorough medical history to better understand your symptoms. Neurological examinations as well as imaging procedures such as an MRI or CT of the head may also be recommended to rule out organic causes.
There are various approaches to treating headaches depending on the cause. For tension headaches, relaxation techniques, physiotherapy, or massages may help. Migraines can be treated with specific medications that reduce inflammation and pain. Dietary changes, adequate sleep, and regular exercise can also have a positive impact on headaches.
You can also take some measures yourself to reduce your symptoms. Ensure adequate hydration, a healthy diet, regular exercise, and sufficient relaxation. Avoid stressful situations, pay attention to ergonomics in your workplace, and take regular breaks.
It is important that you discuss your headaches with a doctor to develop an individual treatment strategy. Please do not hesitate to seek professional help to alleviate your symptoms in the long term. I wish you all the best on your journey to recovery.
Best regards,
