Questions for the dentist... Cavit-W and mouthwash
I have two questions for a dentist:
1. I am currently abroad with poor dental care. The inside of a root-treated upper molar has broken off, leaving only a crater and a stump of the tooth, but I have no pain. Fortunately, I have brought a dental kit with me for such cases and was able to fill the hole with "Cavit-W". I do not want to see a dentist here, but I will do so when I return home, which will be in about 3 months. Now I have some concerns about Cavit:
- Is Cavit-W safe to have open in the mouth, as it has not been crowned? I am worried about constantly absorbing components through the oral mucosa into my body. Are these concerns justified?
- Will the Cavit hold for 3 months or will the filling crumble? I have a filling paste as a backup.
- Can the root-treated tooth that has now broken be saved, or will it likely need to be extracted (the inside of the broken piece looks somewhat black, but does not smell)?
Second question:
For mild to moderate periodontitis, I use a tin fluoride toothpaste. Additionally, the dentist recommended a mouthwash with cetylpyridinium chloride. However, I feel that this irritates my gums. Would you recommend it to kill periodontal bacteria, or is there something better? I have crowded teeth and find it difficult to use interdental brushes. Is the mouthwash a good option in this case?
Thank you in advance!
