Sensation of heat in the toes

Hello,
I am 35 years old male with no previous medical conditions except for lumbar spine problems. For about 3 weeks now, I have been feeling warmth/heat in the toes of my right foot. However, when I touch them, they do not feel warmer. A few days ago, I saw a neurologist who thoroughly examined me including SEP/Tkms, EMG/Nlg tests. The conclusion was that there are absolutely no indications of polyneuropathy, MS, or any other disease. The sensation of heat continues to persist. What could be the cause of this? Should I consult a doctor again?

Dr. med. Frauke Gehring

Good morning,

A polyneuropathy would be unusual at your age. I would rather think of irritation of nerves in the lumbar spine area, which may not necessarily be measurable, and would suggest speaking with an orthopedist. They can also look for and possibly treat any foot misalignment. For example, a flat or splay foot can also cause such sensations.

Sincerely, Dr. Gehring
