Polyphasic rate EMG

Dear Dr. Gehring,
I have another question regarding the "slightly elevated polyphases" in the fasciculating muscle. Are these an indication of reinnervation processes, and if so, where do they come from?
Furthermore, I read in a Thieme-Verlag textbook that fasciculations always occur before paralysis. This is quite anxiety-inducing.
I would greatly appreciate an explanation for better understanding.
Kind regards

Good evening,

Your first question I simply cannot answer, and I wouldn't know who could! You would have to ask a neurophysiologist. But it is sheer madness the way your fear has developed! I cannot imagine your life revolving only around studying ALS. Take it back!

The ALS clinic at Charite has clearly outlined the course of ALS as it is seen and assessed today. That is the last thing you should be reading. Heaven knows who wrote this Thieme book when.

I will not contribute any further to supporting your obsessive preoccupation with ALS. It will only get worse instead of better.

Farewell!
