Zopiclone habituation

Hello,
I have been taking Zopiclone 7.5 mg - 11.25 mg for about 4 months.
My question is, can I stop taking it on my own? Or do I need to seek help, or should I try to stop on my own first. What do you advise me?

MD Felix Aaslepp

Hello!
Since you have been taking Zopiclone for several months, you should not suddenly stop the medication, but rather gradually reduce the dose. However, you should be aware that during this time you will likely experience increased sleep disturbances. Unfortunately, the only solution is to persevere. Perhaps try taking only half a tablet at night, so 3.75 mg.
If you are unable to do it alone, talk to the doctor who prescribed the medication for you.
I wish you all the best!
