heart rhythm disturbances

For many years I have been suffering from heart rhythm disorders. I also regularly visit a cardiologist once a year. In 2011, an echocardiogram, 24-hour ECG, and a dynamic stress echocardiography were performed. In 2012, only an echocardiogram was performed. I feel this heart palpitation daily, mostly in the afternoons. I exercise 3 times a week (2x Nordic walking, 1x gymnastics, bi-weekly bike ride) and feel good doing so. Especially during rest periods, I feel my heart very strongly through strong palpitations. Should I have the examinations done more frequently? Do I have to continue living with it or cope with it? I am 73 years old, weigh 85kg, retired but still working voluntarily (2 positions). I would appreciate a response. Best regards.

Dear inquirer,

In your case, I consider a repeat long-term ECG to be useful in order to further investigate the heart palpitations.

Often, these palpitations can be an extra beat caused by an extrasystole, it should be clarified whether these extrasystoles originate from the atria or the ventricles.

If these palpitations increase in number, I see a timely examination by a cardiologist as useful, as well as an ergometry and a repeat stress echo.

All the best and speedy recovery!

Best regards,
