Feeling of fullness in gastritis type C.

Good day,

I was diagnosed with mild gastritis type C of the antrum mucosa with small focus intestinal metaplasia, HP-negative, and minimal chronic inactive corpus gastritis, HP-negative, as well as mild non-erosive reflux esophagitis without evidence of Barrett's metaplasia through an endoscopy with tissue samples in June. Otherwise regular duodenal mucosa with preserved villous architecture. No celiac disease or giardiasis.

I am 51 years old, a non-smoker, do not drink alcohol, normal weight, and currently taking medication: 1 Loratadine for hay fever in the summer, 150mg Irbesartan and 10mg Lercanidipine daily for my mild hypertension.

My doctor recommended general measures for me now (no food after 6:00 pm, sleep with elevated head, avoid carbonated drinks, etc.) and Iberogast.

I now have a strong feeling of fullness during the day and occasional slight tingling in the stomach, along with belching, but no stomach pain.

Since the feeling of fullness is particularly burdensome for me, my question is:

Would Omeprazole (or another gastric acid inhibitor) also help with gastritis type C? What else could I do?

I am attaching the laboratory results of the endoscopy.

Thank you very much!

Hello!
Thank you for your detailed description. Taking a proton pump inhibitor (e.g. Omeprazole, Pantoprazole), which reduces acid production, is the treatment of choice for Type-C gastritis, in addition to the general measures already initiated. I believe a trial with this medication would be beneficial, especially since you are experiencing symptoms. A temporary therapy may be sufficient, but a permanent therapy to reduce acid production may also be indicated.
The feeling of fullness could also be caused by gas. I would recommend trying Simethicone (e.g. Lefax) for this. You can safely combine this with the proton pump inhibitor.
I suggest discussing these options with your primary care physician so they can assist you.
I wish you a speedy recovery!
