Short inquiry about urine and Corona

Hello again, Ms. Gehring!

I have another question regarding a slightly elevated level of bilirubin in my urine, as you mentioned that there is no cause for concern. However, I wonder what could be the reason for this. The urine was very concentrated, could that be the reason? Throughout the day, the urine was actually quite light. I can only find pathological findings on the internet. I checked my liver values again - my GPT was slightly elevated at 54, but it has been fluctuating since 2015 (it was also at 70 back then), but then it returned to normal levels. All other liver values are within the normal range. The ultrasound of my liver was fine at that time as well. Otherwise, I feel good! In 2018, at least the bilirubin was marginally positive, this time it is simply positive without the margin, in between it has always been negative. Can I forget about absurd fears of something malignant, especially at my age?

Furthermore, I wonder if it would still be exaggerated for me to request a transfer from the cash register in my part-time job given my existing lupus in the current spread of the coronavirus? According to virologists, those with very weakened immune systems are more at risk, as well as the elderly and those with heart conditions (if a severe case were to occur) - I do not fall into any of these categories. However, I am currently feeling uneasy working at the cash register. Of course, no one can predict the outcome, but I always question whether I should really see myself as a high-risk individual. Thank you in advance!

Hello,

No, the concentration of urine is not a reason, but there are people with a completely physiological hyperbilirubinemia, for example in Meulengracht's disease. Malignancy can occur at any age, but if you have a hypochondriacal disorder, you would notice even the slightest signs, so it would have been uncovered in you long ago. So you can forget about that.

It is true that you are somewhat more vulnerable than a perfectly healthy person, but (since you are not receiving immunotherapy) not very much. It should be enough to avoid touching your face, often disposable gloves help with that. You have some distance from the customers.

Best regards, Dr. Gehring
