Active ingredient swine flu

I would like to know if Tamiflu also protects against swine flu. Although it was originally designed to protect against bird flu. Thank you!

Dear questioner,

Indeed, it is assumed that Tamiflu (containing the active ingredient Oseltamivir) also works against the swine flu virus. According to current reports, the federal states have already stocked up accordingly. The problem is: in order to prevent the virus infection from spreading throughout the body, the medication must be taken within 36 hours of the first symptoms appearing. However, since swine flu is typically milder than the "normal" flu, it is difficult to distinguish it from a severe cold in the early stages. Nevertheless, there is a general effectiveness against the swine flu virus.

I hope I was able to help you and send you warm regards,

Your Susanne Plotz
