Hello, I have a question. Three days ago I had a work accident in which I was attacked with a knife. Since then, I have been constantly shaking, experiencing rapid heartbeat, and having circulation problems. What could be the cause of this? What could it be? Best regards, Möller
Dear Mr./Mrs. Möller,
Your reaction is, in the broadest sense, "normal" after this frightening experience and is part of post-traumatic stress reactions - your probably great fear at the moment of the attack on your integrity, your health, and possibly your life, that you have not yet processed, can result in the physical reactions you described. Do not worry - your body is not sick, it is simply reflecting the state of your soul, your still unprocessed fear. Almost every police officer, firefighter, or paramedic experiences similar reactions - they are simply human.
However, please seek immediate help from a professional to process the situation so that it does not become chronic! There are very helpful methods available.
With kind regards and best wishes,
Dr. Christoph Schmülling
