Immunology - what else could the values indicate?
Good day,
the question:
Apart from the known Hepatitis C, what else could the results indicate? (Rheumatic? Allergic? Other immune deficiencies?) Feel free to also provide exotic conjectures.
Reference:
"The complement diagnostics revealed a decreased total complement, a borderline low C3 with normal C4, and a borderline high C3d value."
To support, here are some facts: (Note: Drug use has been discontinued for decades!)
Age 53 years, height 1.63 m / weight 68 kg.
Diagnoses:
1. Chronic Hepatitis C after i.v. drug abuse, current viral load 1,145,835 U/ml, elevated transaminases, hepatic steatosis, genotype unknown
2. Z. n. Hepatitis A and B
3. No indication of a cellular or humoral immune deficiency with normal differential blood count, unremarkable lymphocyte typing, quantitatively normal immunoglobulin production, positive vaccine response to peptide and polysaccharide antigens, unremarkable autoantibody screening.
Ms. Z. reports suspicion of recurrent viral infections. No virus infection was diagnosed, but she often felt like having the flu. She then experiences muscle pain, occasional stomach pain. Symptoms are more frequent in winter than in summer, lasting about a week each time, and disappear when she rests. She works as a qualified social pedagogue, working 3 days a week. Has 2 adult children. Symptoms have been going on for several years, often starting just before her period. Occasionally she gets cold sores, but no herpes zoster so far. She also has allergies to grasses and pollen. She had a past EBV infection many years ago and is concerned about persistent EBV IgG titers. Occasionally she has concentration problems. She has cold urticaria.
About 30 years ago, she used drugs intravenously, contracting HCV in the process. Genotype 3, no therapy attempt so far."
Thank you in advance for your efforts, best regards.
