repayment
November 4, 2010 | 30,00 EUR | answered by Michael Herrmann
Good evening,
I just have a quick question regarding income tax...I got married to my wife on 28.10.2010. It was clear that since I work and my wife is unemployed, and our daughter is only 14 months old, I wanted to go into tax class 3 and my wife into tax class 5. Now my question is, if she goes into tax class 5 now, will she have to make a repayment to the employment office for her 800 euros? And if so, how much would it be approximately?
Dear inquirer,
First of all, thank you very much for your inquiry, which I would like to answer based on the information you provided and in the context of your commitment to an initial consultation. The response is based on the description of the situation. Missing or incorrect information about the actual circumstances can affect the legal outcome.
The amount of unemployment benefit is determined based on the net wage BEFORE receiving the wage replacement benefit. Once it is set, the daily rate will not be changed retrospectively. Therefore, the choice of tax class only has significance before receiving unemployment benefit, as it affects the net wage received. You do not have to expect a reduction in benefits.
I hope that this information has given you a sufficient overview of the situation in the context of your commitment, and I remain
Sincerely,
Michael Herrmann
