Wedding / Change of tax class
December 3, 2009 | 20,00 EUR | answered by Dipl.BW/SB Ulrich Stiller
The problem is as follows:
We got married at the end of August 2009, but only changed our tax classes from 1 to three and five in mid-November. Now we were surprised by the enormous sum of repayment of my wife's overpaid wages. For four months, the repayment amounts to more than 2,000 euros. It is no longer possible to change the classes for 2009 to class four - is that correct? Our goal is to make a change so that I can better absorb the repayment with my higher salary.
What is the net income for tax class 5 at 2200 euros gross? (female, born in 1978, Protestant, statutory health insurance)
Dear inquirer,
Thank you for your inquiry, which I would like to answer based on the information you provided and in light of your situation as follows:
It is correct that a change in tax class is only possible until November 30, 2009. Your approach was correct. You will be taxed as if you were married for the entire year 2009. Therefore, you will benefit from the application of the splitting table for the entire year 2009 due to your marriage.
Taking into account your information and the surcharge for long-term care insurance for childless individuals, the payout amount in tax class V is €1,035.84.
I hope I could be of assistance.
Kind regards,
