Hello,
Attached are:
(1) Income tax return 2017
(2) Income tax return 2016
(3) Income tax return 2015
In 2017, maintenance expenses for Dorfstraße 41b amounting to 8,423 euros were reported by the former tax advisor.
For Dorfstraße 24, maintenance expenses of 8,423 euros were determined.
Question: What nominal values regarding maintenance expenses do I need to report in the income tax return for 2018 and over how many years do I need to depreciate this amount?
In 2018, several car trips were made from the residence to the property (administrative expenses). The one-way trip is 380 km.
What portion of the costs can be claimed in the tax return? Is it always one-way trip or can round trip be claimed, thus 2 x 380 km (round trip)?
Good day,
in 2016, maintenance costs of 18,553 EUR were incurred, which are to be spread over 5 years. Therefore, in 2018 you will enter 1/5 = 3,711 EUR of this amount. The distribution of the total amount is evenly spread over the years 2016 - 2020.
In 2017, expenses of 8,423 EUR were incurred, which are also to be spread over 5 years. Therefore, you will enter 1,685 EUR for 2018 from this amount. The even distribution here is over the years 2017 - 2021.
Regarding trips to the property, you can claim the entire distance traveled, including the round trip, as administrative expenses.
I hope this answers your question, otherwise feel free to ask for further clarification at no cost.
