Unsalaried activity + €400 job + self-employed activity
August 2, 2011 | 20,00 EUR | answered by Dr. Yanqiong Bolik
Hello,
I have an income from employment of €1800 (TVÖD 8), earn €400 in a side job, and approximately €250 from non-self-employed work (writing).
If the €400 job is declared in the income tax return, will it be taxed, and which forms do I need to submit to the tax office? Is there a prediction on how high the income tax for 2011 will be?
I would greatly appreciate any tips.
Kind regards,
Dear inquirer,
Thank you for your inquiry. Based on the information provided, I would be happy to answer your request within the scope of an initial consultation, taking into account your input as well as the rules of this platform. The statement is based on the facts presented. Missing or incorrect information regarding the actual circumstances can affect the tax result.
1. According to your statement, you have an insurance-obligatory main employment (TVÖD 8), non-self-employed work - writing work with €250 monthly (I assume you have submitted a wage tax card to the employer), and a side job with €400 monthly.
2. The tax treatment of the side job depends on the nature of the side job:
i) If it is a marginally paid employment, i.e., not self-employed work or commercial activity, and you have not submitted a wage tax card to the employer, and the employer has paid the lump sum contribution (including lump sum tax), then you do not need to declare your income from the mini job in the tax return. However, you cannot claim any advertising costs or the employee lump sum amount for the side job.
ii) If the side job is carried out as part of self-employed work or commercial activity, you must create an income-surplus calculation. The expenses associated with the activity must also be taken into account. The surplus must be declared in your income tax return.
3. A reliable forecast for income tax 2011 cannot be given now because:
i) the year has not yet ended. There could still be tax changes with immediate effect,
ii) Your personal situation (retirement provision, special expenses, etc.) has a strong impact on the tax to be determined and is necessary information for calculating the tax.
I hope that within the scope of this initial consultation and based on your information, I have provided you with an overview of the situation and helped you.
For further questions, I am available for a personal conversation.
Sincerely,
Dr. Yanqiong Bolik
