We bought a car about 8 weeks ago that was still registered to the seller. After the contract was signed, the seller informed us that he did not have the TÜV and AU reports with him and could not find them at home quickly. However, he promised to provide them to us in the following days, which was also stated in the contract. Unfortunately, nothing happened and we were unable to re-register the car. The fact is that he apparently went to the city of Essen and we received a letter from the city demanding that we re-register the car within 4 weeks. Unfortunately, this was not possible without the TÜV and AU reports. Today, the city came and immobilized the car with a big red sticker. What can I do? Who is responsible for the costs of immobilization and how much will they be?
