Own apartment

Dear Sir or Madam,

According to the law, the Job Center only provides financing for a separate apartment from the age of 25, why is that?

Are there any exceptions that could allow someone to move out before the age of 25?

When does the Job Center make a decision on such exceptions? What are the requirements or conditions that need to be met?

I still live with my mother and currently have a good relationship with her, but I also want to become independent.

I could find a job and finance my own apartment, but without a high school diploma, there are not many opportunities other than temporary work agencies.

The Job Center has labeled me as illiterate and believes that I am not suitable for the primary job market.

I will now receive a notice of termination from the Job Center, as they do not want to provide any more support since I have rejected every offer from them. I now have to apply for basic insurance.

What does basic insurance mean and what are the regulations regarding having your own apartment and how will the benefits be financed there?

Dear inquirer,

Thank you for your inquiry.

It is correct that you generally can only be granted financing for an apartment starting from the age of 25.

This is because until you reach the age of 25, your parents are generally obligated to provide financial support for you. Only if your parents are unable to do so, the authorities would step in upon request.

Therefore, you would first have to claim financial support from your parents, and if this is unsuccessful, you should then submit a new application to the authorities.

Best regards,
