Can an unfulfilled desire to have children indicate problems in the urogenital area?

Dear Doctor,

My name is Norbert Tiefental and I am reaching out to you with a question regarding my unfulfilled desire to have children. My wife and I have been trying unsuccessfully to conceive for some time now, and we are starting to worry that there may be issues in the urogenital area that could be the cause.

Currently, we are both healthy and have undergone all necessary examinations with a gynecologist and an andrologist. However, so far no concrete cause for our infertility has been found. My wife is physically fit and has regular menstrual cycles, while all my values are within the normal range.

Nevertheless, I am concerned that there may still be problems in the urogenital area that have been overlooked. Could changes in the testicles, prostate, or other organs in the urogenital area be the cause of our difficulties? Are there specific tests that we should consider to rule out any potential issues in this area?

I am worried that due to undetected urological problems, we may not be able to fulfill our desire to have children and would like to know if it would be wise for us to undergo further examination in this area. Do you have experience with similar cases and could you provide us with some guidance?

Thank you in advance for your help and support.

Sincerely,
Norbert Tiefental

Dear Mr. Tiefental,

Thank you for your detailed message and your trust. It is understandable that you are worried and looking for possible causes for your unfulfilled desire to have children. It is good to hear that you and your wife have already undergone examinations with a gynecologist and an andrologist and so far no concrete cause has been found. It is important that both partners are examined, as the cause of infertility often lies with both.

Regarding possible problems in the urogenital area that have been overlooked so far, there are indeed special examinations that can be considered. An examination by a urologist can help to rule out problems with the testicles, prostate, or other organs in the urogenital area. For example, the urologist can perform an ultrasound examination to detect changes in the testicles or prostate. In addition, a sperm analysis can be performed to check the quality and quantity of sperm.

It is important to note that psychological and emotional factors can also play a role in infertility. Stress, anxiety, or other mental stressors can also affect fertility. It may therefore be advisable to consider psychological support to take these factors into account.

As a urologist, I have seen many similar cases in my practice and can assure you that in most cases it is possible to find and treat the cause of unfulfilled desire to have children. I would therefore recommend that you make an appointment with a urologist and consider further examinations to rule out possible problems in the urogenital area.

I hope that my response has been helpful to you and I am available for any further questions you may have.

Sincerely,
Luisa Ehrig
