Feeling of pressure in the ear.

Hello,
At Christmas, I suddenly had pressure in my ear, went to the ENT who did all tests with no findings, said I should take cortisone nasal spray and do pressure equalization, it got slightly better. Since yesterday, I have had a massive feeling of pressure in my ear again. Mild pain, the feeling that something is running out of my ear and also the sensation that everything is clogged on that side. Should I go for a check-up tomorrow? What could this be?
Dear questioner,
It could indeed be a recurrent eustachian tube catarrh. If it is an acute otitis media (the painful symptoms suggest this), you should refrain from performing a pressure equalization for now.
In order to ensure good drainage of the secretion in the middle ear through the Eustachian tube, I would recommend decongestant nasal drops (with xylometazoline, available over the counter at the pharmacy) and saline inhalations (preferably using a nebulizer) for today. Additionally, a pain therapy with ibuprofen or similar is advisable, as it also has anti-inflammatory effects.
Tomorrow, you could then see your primary care physician if you cannot get an appointment with your ENT specialist.
Get well soon!
