Consequences following a fall with a vertebral fracture
I had a fall from about 2 meters height seven weeks ago, resulting in a vertebral body compression fracture of TH 2 to 5. It was treated conservatively, and I am currently doing daily physiotherapy. For the past few days, I have been experiencing symptoms at night where my arms fall asleep, especially in the outer arm area. Last night, I felt twice that my natural breathing stopped, and I woke up startled but was able to breathe normally. Was that just my imagination, or could it actually happen, even though I don't have any signs of paralysis in my legs or arms? During the day, I occasionally have circulation problems in my fingers, but my arms or legs do not fall asleep. Sometimes there is a tingling or itching sensation in the area of the fracture, and the muscles also hurt with excessive or prolonged exertion. In the past few days, I have increased my physiotherapy and also had a longer car ride, but I only spent it as a passenger in a reclining position. I haven't lifted anything heavy, but I have started moving more normally again, while still maintaining a straight posture. Unfortunately, I am currently abroad and the nearest doctor is far away. Should I be concerned about respiratory paralysis, or is it unlikely to happen if there are no signs of paralysis? There is likely a compression of the nerve area TH2-5, but what are the consequences and how should I proceed? Thank you in advance!
