Cauda equina syndrome or MS relapse
Hello...I have a question. For 3 days now, I have been experiencing numbness in the inner thigh, part of the buttock, and right groin area, as well as difficulty with bowel movements (constipation). I have been having issues with my lumbar spine and sciatic area for weeks, with pain that sometimes radiates from my hip to my knee, as well as occasional pulling in the groin. I have read about cauda equina syndrome and I am very worried. I wanted to know if the symptoms of the syndrome are accompanied by severe back pain and bladder and bowel problems, or if they occur one after the other. However, I also have multiple sclerosis, and my last relapse was only 3 months ago. A year ago, I had an MRI of the lumbar spine which showed dorsomedial disc protrusion at the L5/S1 level between the roots without radicular impingement in the image. In the MRI of the thoracic spine 3 months ago, it stated...the discs largely close to the vertebral body edge. No definite prolapse. Thank you in advance for your response.
