Inhaled asbestos fibers

Hello,
I accidentally came across 3 small asbestos panels during renovation work. I did not touch the panels, only came into contact with them with a screwdriver, causing some dust to be released. I probably inhaled a small amount of asbestos fibers as a result. It is said that even a single inhalation can cause lung cancer. I am now a little worried. What is your opinion on this?
Hello, I am happy to help you further.
The risk is indeed quite high that you have inhaled these asbestos fibers. Even a small amount is enough to increase the risk of lung cancer, which usually only appears after years. I strongly recommend that you see a lung specialist for an examination to assess the current status. Regular check-ups are important afterwards to detect any potential cancer development early.
Do you have any questions on this? I am happy to assist you.
All the best and speedy recovery!
Kind regards,
Dr. K. Hamann
