Question

Hello, I have a urinary tract infection. At first, I was prescribed a single dose of fosfomycin, which initially cleared it up but it has since returned. I then went to my gynecologist who has now prescribed me Ciprofloxacin Aristo 250mg for 5 days. He also did a urine test and sent it to the lab. I have taken the ciprofloxacin but unfortunately still have symptoms. My question is, my mother was prescribed Amoxiclav-CT 875mg/125mg film-coated tablets for her salivary gland infection. The doctor said she should keep it because it can also be used for a urinary tract infection.

Good evening,

When urine has been sent to the lab, the results will be available soon and will let you know which antibiotic your bacteria are sensitive to. Therefore, it does not make sense to use a third antibiotic that could further damage your gut flora and may not even be effective. Please use herbal remedies until the results are available, and drink plenty of fluids.

Take care!

Warm regards, Dr. Höllering
