Ask a doctor on the topic of General medicine

antibiotics

Thank you for the response. I have not seen the results from the lab, my doctor just told me. I have trouble swallowing and chew the tablet. Does that change the effect?

Dr. med. Frauke Gehring

Hello,

Your doctor has seen this, and he would have contacted you if the prescribed antibiotic was not the right one.

Only tablets with a score line should be crushed, those that do not require a coating to protect them from stomach acid. You likely have a film-coated tablet that should not be crushed. Your pharmacist can check this in their database, as it can vary from company to company.

The best way to swallow tablets is with pudding or yogurt.

Best regards, Dr. Höllering
