Which documents are needed for the income tax return?

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am facing the challenge of submitting my income tax return for the current tax year and I am unsure about which documents I need for this purpose. This year, I have received various income from self-employment and employment, as well as income from capital assets and rental income. Additionally, I have claimed various business expenses and special expenses.

Unfortunately, I am not sure which receipts and documents I need to submit in order to complete and submit my tax return accurately. I want to make sure that I have all relevant documents and do not forget anything to avoid possible errors or omissions.

Which specific documents are required for the income tax return? Do you need, for example, my pay slips, bank statements, receipts for business expenses and special expenses, as well as rental agreements and certificates of capital gains? Are there any other documents that I should submit to complete my tax return accurately and completely?

I would be very grateful if you could provide me with a detailed list of the necessary documents so that I can prepare myself optimally for the preparation of my income tax return.

Thank you in advance for your support and advice.

Sincerely,
Mia Vöss

Dear Mrs. Vöss,

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the necessary documents for the income tax return. It is important that you carefully prepare all relevant documents and receipts to ensure that your tax return is correct and complete.

For the income tax return, you typically need the following documents:

1. Payslips: These are important to prove your income from employment. Please gather all payslips from the tax year.

2. Bank statements: You need your bank statements to track your income and expenses. Bank statements are particularly relevant for income from capital investments.

3. Receipts for work-related expenses and special expenses: Collect all receipts for work-related expenses such as travel costs, training expenses, or work equipment. Also, receipts for special expenses such as donations or medical expenses are relevant.

4. Rental agreements and certificates of rental income: If you have rental income, you need the corresponding rental agreements and certificates of the amount of rental income.

5. Certificates of capital gains: If you have earned capital gains, you need certificates from your banks or securities accounts showing the income earned.

In addition to these mentioned documents, other documents may also be relevant. This includes, for example, receipts for extraordinary expenses, documents for tax-free income, or proof of tax-deductible pension contributions.

It is important that you carefully check all documents and obtain any missing documents in a timely manner to be able to submit your tax return completely. If you are unsure about the exact documents required, I recommend seeking advice from a tax advisor who can advise you individually.

I hope that this list of required documents helps you to prepare optimally for the preparation of your income tax return. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

Best regards,
Tina Ullmann
