Inheritance from children
August 7, 2021 | 30,00 EUR | answered by Steuerberater Knut Christiansen
Hello, my two mentally disabled children have inherited money. Do they need to have their own account in order to receive the payment, or would it be possible and legal to make the payment to a trust account? I (mother) have 2 trust accounts, which are actually intended for rental deposits. One is currently not being used.
Good evening,
I am happy to provide you with the following feedback to your question.
The money should generally be transferred to accounts that can be attributed to your children. A trust account would also be possible, as long as it is ensured that the money remains the property of the children. Ultimately, it should not result in a gift being made to you or another person. This should not be the case with an account that you manage in trust for your children.
I hope this answers your question, if not, feel free to ask additional questions. Please note that this forum cannot replace a final and personal consultation.
