Buying a used car from a dealer
Dear Mr. Lawyer,
On Monday, I bought a car from a used car dealer. Unfortunately, we were not able to take a test drive as the dealer did not have license plates. We let it run and everything sounded good.
Unfortunately, we were only able to pick it up on Wednesday without a purchase contract as it was not ready yet. After driving 10 km, the car started smoking. It seems to be the cylinder head gasket. The dealer took the car for repairs and said he would get back to me.
He has contacted me and informed me that I can only get the car back at the earliest on Tuesday. However, I would like to have my money back, which the dealer refuses to give me as he claims that he is not at fault and does not want to buy a faulty car.
We have not seen the contract until today and only have a receipt. How should I proceed now?
Kind regards.
