Dislocated distal intra-articular radius fracture

Hello,

Let's assume a patient has been operated on for a dislocated distal intra-articular radius fracture. Postoperatively, Voltaren Resinat is to be given as a pain medication.

What is the usual dose of Voltaren Resinat for this radius fracture on average? In the case of a properly performed operation and normal healing process: Is it more common to prescribe 1-0-0 or 1-0-1? What is the experience?

How long do patients typically take Voltaren Resinat after this radius fracture surgery on average? For how many days, weeks? When can a significant reduction in pain be expected, so that pain medication is usually no longer needed for this radius fracture?

I am looking for the usual experience values for this specific radius fracture.

Best regards,
E. D.

Good day,

First of all, Voltaren is used in these cases more for reducing swelling than as a painkiller, as it is not sufficient for that purpose in the first week postoperatively. It is recommended to also give Novalgin in addition. The usual dose of Voltaren is 150mg per day for healthy individuals. Petite individuals can manage with 100mg. A single dose is not advisable due to its short duration of action, so 2x50 or 75mg is recommended. It is usually given for one to two weeks post-op. Voltaren, as well as other painkillers, should not be necessary after two weeks.

Best regards, Dr. Höllering
