Pulling/Burning sensation in the chest area

Good morning,
I have a very peculiar problem. Since last Tuesday, I have been experiencing a slight pulling or burning sensation in my left chest - but only when I haven't eaten or drunk anything for a while (about a quarter of an hour). When I take my first bite or sip, I feel a brief, slight pulling in my left chest (or in the left area of my sternum/spine, I can't quite pinpoint it exactly) which then disappears. I have no complaints for the rest of the day. Not even during exercise (I've tested both endurance and strength training - no issues). Currently, I have quite an uncomfortable tension in my shoulder, could it be related to that? I also stopped taking my pill a month ago. Could it be hormonal? But only when eating or drinking? Or could it be because I've been exercising a bit too much lately? I've tried everything, drinking non-carbonated beverages or just warm tea, but it's not the cause. The same goes for eating. It's not related to what I eat. It's all very strange, but it does worry me, even though it's not really a proper pain but just a slight pulling burning sensation (I can't describe it any better). I've also checked my chest but everything seems okay. Could it be psychological? I'm thinking a lot about swine flu and have heard that it can lead to severe complications. I hope you can help me. I don't want to go to the doctor right now, as I might catch the flu there.
