Post-treatment after Emmert surgery

Good day!

On Tuesday, I had an Emmert plastic with wedge excision performed on me. The nail was severely infected on both sides.

After the procedure, I was prescribed Ibuflam 600 and Penicillin.

The day after the surgery, the dressing was changed. I am supposed to come back for one last check on Monday, and then after 5 days, my family doctor will take over.

I am very unsure about the interval for changing the dressing. There are a few days between the first and second dressing change, and then another 5 days until I see my family doctor. Is this normal?

Also, the Penicillin (10 tablets, each 986 mg) will run out three days before the next dressing change. I am unable to see if there is still an infection present and if the antibiotic needs to be extended. This is making me very anxious.

Since the removal of the pressure dressing, I have hardly any pain, just occasional throbbing. I ice the toe several times a day and maintain complete bed rest. Is there anything else I need to consider?

Due to the severity of the infection, the doctor mentioned that the bone may have been affected. Despite multiple inquiries about the surgery, I did not receive a satisfactory answer and no X-rays were taken.

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with the surgeon, as he was not very friendly and very brief in his responses. Therefore, I would like to seek an independent opinion.

I would appreciate an evaluation. I am willing to compensate accordingly for the extent of the questions.

Thank you very much.
