Pregnant? Miscarriage

Hello, I have the following problem. I should have gotten my period about 6-8 days ago. I took a pregnancy test 4 days ago: negative. On Wednesday, I had very light spotting for a very short moment with a blood clot about the length of a thumb, no pain or anything else, just 10 minutes of very light bleeding and that was it. This morning, I went to the doctor and the test was very slightly positive. I told him about the "bleeding" but he didn't even react to it, didn't do an ultrasound, just took some blood and now I have to wait until next Thursday.

So my question is, what were the bleedings? Am I still pregnant or did I have a miscarriage?

I had a miscarriage in the 8th week about 4 months ago so I know what it looks like and the blood clot from Wednesday was not even close to similar. Last time, I had real pain and 3 days of bleeding. That's why I hope it wasn't a miscarriage. Please, I ask for a quick answer.

Dear questioner,
I can understand your concern very well. Unfortunately, I cannot completely rule out the possibility of a miscarriage in this way.
During your period, the lining of the uterus is shed, which can sometimes appear as clots. Or in your case, it could have been a clot of congealed blood that came out. This is also normal during a menstrual period.
In very early pregnancy, nothing may be visible on the ultrasound, so a blood test is the safest way to determine if you are (still) pregnant.
The blood clot could theoretically have been a miscarriage, but as mentioned above, there could be other reasons as well. I'm sorry I can't take away your worries, but I sincerely hope that everything is okay!
Warm regards,
Susanne Plotz
