Foul odor

Hello. I have been experiencing a very strange smell in my nose for a while now. It's driving me crazy. I noticed it when I started using my cortisone allergy nasal spray again after a long time. I stopped using it again, but the smell hasn't gone away. It's strange. When I go outside, the smell isn't as strong. Now I can even taste the strange smell, but not with every meal. I'm really going crazy soon. Everything I eat tastes terrible. What could this be?

Dear inquirer,

Disturbances in the sense of smell and taste can be consequences of viral infections, not only from the coronavirus but also from influenza viruses. In your specific case, it needs to be ruled out whether a fungus has formed somewhere due to the use of the cortisone spray. Please consult an ENT doctor for an examination, an ultrasound of the paranasal sinuses, and if necessary, a CT scan of the paranasal sinuses. Do you have any further questions? Regards, Welsch
